Laser hair removal techniques are now largely available at numerous clinics, salons and spas. However, there are a couple of things you should know, before scheduling your first treatment session.
- Start your treatment no earlier than fall. It’s true that modern technologies have produced laser hair removal machines that allow direct exposure to sunlight or tanning beds immediately after the intervention. However, not all salons carry such machines—it’s the snazzier, more expensive ones that do. If you don’t want to spend all spring and/or summer with your legs or arms fully covered, experts recommend that you start your sessions with the beginning of the cold season.
- Find a place and a beauty technician you can trust. While laser hair removal techniques are relatively safe these days, it’s always best to check and double check that your salon of choice is licensed to perform laser interventions and that your technician is properly trained and certified in this skill. Improperly conducted interventions can cause permanent scarring to your skin. Moreover, since you will need at least 6 sessions, one month apart, at an average duration of two hours (if you’re getting the full leg and bikini treatment), you’d better be comfortable with being nearly naked in front of the technician. Or, at least as comfortable as you can be.
