Creatinine
What is measured
The test measures the concentration of creatinine in the blood. Creatinine is a waste product that comes from muscle and blood is spilled. It is filtered by the kidneys and is then eliminated from the body through urine. For this reason, creatinine is used as an index of renal function: indeed, if its levels in the blood increase, it means that the kidneys are unable to pass it in urine and therefore do not perform their job well.
When and why the test is
The serum creatinine test is within the examinations that are prescribed routine. The exam is for individuals who have general health problems and in cases of suspected renal impairment. Furthermore, a review of creatinine is used in those who suffer from kidney disease is to control the progression of the disease, both to ensure the effectiveness of drugs taken.
